Contract Science Researcher & Grant Writer

We are seeking an experienced Contract Science Researcher, Grant Writer, and Fundraiser with deep roots in family foundations and established relationships across the philanthropic community. This role is central to the success of A Good Medicine , a science documentary series and platform focused on diseases that disproportionately impact women, working to transform healthcare and advance equitable access to lifesaving treatments.

A Good Medicine brings together three parts. A premium documentary series builds informed audiences around scientists pursuing overlooked approaches to these diseases. A crowdfunding platform turns that attention into direct support for vetted studies, with researchers reporting monthly to the people funding them. An AI Patient Advocate helps patients find trials they may qualify for and guides them through enrollment. Because audiences arrive informed and moved, campaigns deliver patients as well as dollars, in a field where recruitment is the leading cause of trial delays.

Bluprint Films has produced award winning films that premiered at Sundance, Tribeca, and Berlin and aired on Netflix, Amazon, and the BBC. Our team's credits include Academy Award winning films and multiple Emmy winning documentaries. Lisa Strausfeld, who leads platform design, built the data visualization practice at Bloomberg and is a National Design Award winner.

Responsibilities:

• Grant Writing & Science Communication
• Develop compelling grant proposals, reports, outreach emails, and presentations that translate complex medical and scientific concepts for diverse audiences.
• Ensure proposals align with the mission of A Good Medicine and resonate with potential funders, including family foundations, corporate sponsors, and high net worth individuals (HNWIs).
• Researcher Outreach
• Connect with researchers to evaluate their fit for the series, building an understanding of their scientific methods ahead of meetings.
• Donor Engagement & Fundraising
• Identify and cultivate relationships with new major donors, including corporate sponsors, foundations, and individual philanthropists.
• Strengthen relationships with existing donors to increase engagement and long term support.
• Develop and execute strategic outreach plans to ensure consistent communication with donors and prospects.
• Strategic Development
• Collaborate with the team to identify funding priorities and opportunities aligned with A Good Medicine's mission.
• Leverage existing relationships to secure funding for the production and distribution of A Good Medicine.

Qualifications:

• PhD in a relevant scientific field such as biomedical sciences, neuroscience, life sciences, molecular biology, pharmacology, epidemiology, or public health, with an understanding of regulatory processes and the current science funding landscape.
• Proven experience in grant writing and fundraising within the scientific, medical, or public health fields.
• Established relationships with family foundations, corporate sponsors, and HNWIs in the philanthropic space.
• Strong ability to communicate complex scientific ideas clearly and compellingly for nontechnical audiences.
• Demonstrated success securing major gifts, grants, and sponsorships.
• A track record of meeting fundraising goals and deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self motivated and highly organized.
• Familiarity with or strong interest in media, storytelling, or public engagement campaigns related to health and science.

Hours & Compensation:

• Time Commitment: 10 to 15 hours per week
• Compensation: Commensurate with experience
• Start Date: Immediately
• Location: New York, Boston, or the Bay Area preferred; open to candidates elsewhere

This is a flexible contract role and a meaningful opportunity to contribute to work at the intersection of science, storytelling, and social change. Candidates with established relationships with family foundations in the science space or a strong understanding of the funding landscape will be prioritized. Experience scheduling and participating in virtual meetings with potential donors is also valued.
